My second year as British Champion in Chinese Wrestling 05

CUONG SAM L.6 ADV WUDANG INSTRUCTOR

I was born in the year of the Tauren Earth Sheep. Started studying Taijiquan on September 98 with an enigmatic man called Bob Burke, at the time most of my friends was doing some kind of martial art and I didn't want to be left out. At first I wanted to take on Tae Kwon Do (being tall, slim and flexible… well at least a little) but a friend who was practicing Salat advise me to take on Taiji instead as it teaches the most important skill in self defense- sensitivity. I took his advise and arranged to go to a class with a friend on a Sunday morning, he didn't get out of bed (hung over) and I never look back since!
Bob eventually introduce me to the maestro of Wudang Taijiquan, Master Dan Docherty. After the first full day session with the man I knew that this is the real deal and took immediate initiative. Every month I would use all my spending money and traveled to London to participate in his Sunday workshop, and when I learned that he also run regular weekly retreats… needless to say that I spend all my monthly wages without any regrets (well, maybe just a little).
I am a qualified Personal Trainer and have traveled far and wide mostly with Dan all in the name of fine food, wine and Taijiquan. I took a keen interest on the martial side of this beautiful art and eventually competed in as many tournaments as I could- with success! That's all for now…...
